about
Born and bred on the Kāpiti Coast, Wellington. Devon Welch is absolutely itching as he releases this his third and final single "Freedom" off his upcoming debut album- "Journey to Freedom"
The track- symbolic of having made it to the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel, after overcoming some pretty extreme hardships.
'Freedom' pushes through the potential mamae/pain and confusion of seeking to align with your higher self amongst all the present day distractions and self doubts we can encounter. Joined by Nikau Te Huki for this anthem- You can rest assured that this powerhouse collaboration will have you dancing, shaking and not sweating the small stuff. Because in the grand scheme of things, it's all small stuff.
lyrics
Freedom, Freedoms what I’m talking bout .
Freedom, is coming straight out my mouth, whoah
,
Cause we tried so hard and we got so far,
Making all those moves up on our guitars,
Talking bout freedom,
Freedoms what I’m talking bout,
Sometimes a pressure winding is thirst,
An ever twisting rewind of strictest times play minds in reverse,
What’s the worst that could happen? You die or come first?
Repeat it to the sound at the edge of the earth,
Just check your ticket as you try to find words,
Take a look at yourself as your flying out of this world,
You’re busting it up, you’re stuck in that rut,
You never know what’s enough, like politicians who’re corrupted as fuck.
It’s time to take the stand up against the man,
Seize the day, take the power in hand,
Put aside all that’s petty and ride,
Together till the end, till the end of your life,
Don’t fight the friction, and try to understand,
That when you go with the flow, you’re the master plan,
That’s just when all this bad shit ends,
It’s just you chilling out with all of your friends
As we walk through this life we can do what we like,
Fuck the verse, Fuck the Mic, I just wanna get high,
Make the music everyday and get by?
Or taste some success in life, yeah,
We’ll toast to the sky,
Cause people come and go amongst your ins and outs,
Your ups and downs but people might just fuck you round,
But there’s nothing to say at the end of the day,
Harm is karma it’ll only come back your way.
Freedom, Freedoms what I’m talking bout, Yay
Freedom, is coming straight out my mouth whoah
Cause we tried so hard and we got so far,
Making all those moves up on our guitars,
Talking bout freedom, Whoah,
Freedoms what I’m talking bout
Nikau:
Well mumma I’m free,
Nomation,
Whakarongo mai let’s have a conversation,
Cause ever since your soul came down from the heavens,
You’ve been a free man, and you a free woman,
But somewhere along the way you got told,
That responsibility is just a part of getting old,
So you gotta put your freedom to the side,
Jokes on you motherfucker we alive, cause,
Every morning when I wake up with the rising sun,
Every step I take is free, every breath I make is free,
Protect your sovereignty, Protect your sovereignty,
Cause Freedom yeah that’s all we have,
Freedom, Freedoms what I’m talking bout .
Freedom, Whoah, is coming straight out my mouth, whoah
Cause we tried so hard and we got so far,
Making all those moves up on our guitars,
Talking bout freedom, Whoah, Whoah
